Carol Forbes (Stockwell)

Carol Forbes (Stockwell) passed away on June 6, 2017 from cancer at Penticton, BC.  Carol is survived by her mother Nancy, her sister Heather, her brother Jamie and his wife, Michelle, her niece, Keira and her nephew, Aidan, her brother-in-law Brian, her niece Rae and her nephew Russ, and her many friends whom she met during her extensive travels. Madeleine Butler and Kelly Thompson from our school year were two of those close friends.

Carol studied architecture at Oklahoma U and designed many beautiful renovations and homes around Vancouver and Ottawa when she wasn't designing cakes to die for, as she also worked in the catering business for awhile. She was married for 18 years to an international marine biologist and travelled the world, although home base was North Vancouver. She loved to be physical - to play squash, hike mountains, run through the woods, go wilderness camping, SCUBA dive, canoe in rapids, swim in glacial lakes... Carol was adventurous, curious and not afraid of the unknown. She was deeply spiritual and sought wisdom in yoga, meditation, shamanism, family constellation work, among others. When her older sister, Sue (who was also a Magee grad), fell sick, Carol explored healing practices, studying healing touch, qigong, homeopathy and nutrition. After Sue's passing, when Carol also fell sick, she combined traditional medicine with her other extensive healing knowledge to maintain her quality of life. She published a book of Dr Zeus-like poetry and gifted her friends with her gorgeous hand-made pottery. She was a wonderful and generous friend and will be profoundly missed.

She lived life fully, with great dignity, grace and beauty, every moment.

We have lost a beloved, popular, beautiful classmate; beautiful to the end; even more so, as her spirit shone.

She died at peace and consciously and exactly as she wished.
