David Wolfe

David Thomas Wolfe, 66, of Marysville, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family following a six-month courageous battle with cancer. Due to his health, he retired in January from the City of Marysville where he served more than 30 years as the water plant operator. A chemist, he oversaw the purity of the city’s drinking water and managed the water system equipment and physical plant. He was a former associate of the Nestle Company where he worked in research and development. He was a graduate of Kent State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he meticulously cared for the church rose gardens, landscaping and lawn for many years. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, running and biking. He immersed himself in the Bible daily. A man of structure, strength and integrity, his greatest joy in life was his wife and daughters. He was born March 11, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Edward and Elsie Croy Wolfe. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara R. Meldahl Wolfe, whom he married June 11, 1977 in Rushford, Minnesota; his two daughters, Melissa Wolfe of Bellefontaine and Jennifer Wolfe of Dublin; his brother, Carl (Theda) Wolfe of New York; his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Cheri (Craig) Korte of Pennsylvania and Dale (Joyce) Meldahl, Scott Meldahl, Brian (Dawn) Meldahl and Lori (Jeff) Colwill, all of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. An outdoor “Celebration of Life” tribute will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wolfe residence, Marysville where a dinner reception will follow the service. The family encourages all ages to attend. Pastor Kathy Reiff will officiate. The outdoor memorial service and dinner will take place in the family’s backyard surrounded by his rose gardens.
