In Memory

Michael Ray Dearth

Mike passed away in August, 2007. while living in Falkville, Alabama.  He was buried in the Falkville City Cemetery.  From his obituary, "...enjoyed love, life, fishing and hunting, with eating and talking being his favorite.  He loved dogs, cats, and birds which were his pets.  He served in Vietnam for a three-month tour of duty at the same time as his brother, and he was forced to leave because two members of the same family could not serve in a war.  He elected for his brother to leave, but his brother was on a tug boat with really little danger of getting hurt, while where Mike was stationed, the fatality rate of his own men was 80%.  ... He received Top Security Clearance, Dog Training/Handling after his tour of duty in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal."  Mike spent 33 years years as a trucker and was a member of the Falkville Volunteer Fire Department where he received the "Rookie of the Year" award.  He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Ohio.  He was survived by his wife, Dora, one daughter, his brother, Pat, and four grandchildren.

Mike was at one time, my brother-n-law and we had some great times. We would go hunting and fishing together -he loved the outdoors. Mike was a loving father, his low point in life was when he lost his son (David) in a work related accident. He tried to act like he was  tough, but all of us knew, he was nothing but a big teddy bear. When Mike passed I lost a great friend and loved one.

Miss you Brother

"Denny"
