-- Alfred M. "Al" Arnold, 77, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Akron General Medical Center.

Mr. Arnold was born in Copley and resided in Wadsworth 54 years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He was a carpentry teacher at Wadsworth High School, retiring in 1988 with 19 years service, and previously was self-employed as a carpenter contractor. He was a member of Wadsworth First Christian Church, American Legion Post 170, and V.F.W. Post 1089.

Mr. Arnold is survived by wife, Wanda; sons, Terry (wife, Sandi), Jerry (wife, Sheila), all of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Tony, Tina, Tim (wife, Misty), Matthew, and Brian; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Cody, Dustin, and Hayden; sister, Norma Jean Anderson of Wadsworth; brother-in-law, Wayne Schmeltzer (wife, Sue); sister-in-law, Mary Schmeltzer, all of Wadsworth. He was preceded in death by parents, Roland and Mina; brothers, Ralph, Glenn, Gale, Robert; sisters, Hazel Elliott, Betty Allen; and brother-in-law, Bob Schmeltzer.

The family will receive friends Wednedsay, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m, Rev. James L. Singleton officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, where V.F.W. Post 1089 and American Legion Post 170 will conduct military services.
