Thomas J. Hampton taught social studies and history at Wadsworth High School for 30 years. He also coached football for 24 years and was the school's head coach from 1978 to 1983. Mr. Hampton, 61, died of kidney failure Tuesday at his home in Wadsworth Township. He was inducted into the Wadsworth Sports Hall of Fame last year. He was a member of the Wadsworth Lions Club and Medina County Federal Credit Union Loan Committee.

He was born in Sebring, O., and lived in the Wadsworth area since 1958. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Martha J.; son, Peter M. of Columbus; and stepsons, Jeffrey and Scott Romanoff of the Chippewa Lake area.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Wadsworth First Christian Church, 116 Boyer St., Wadsworth
