My husband Al and I were shocked to hear of Jims passing. We just found out last night, 9-19. We also had no idea that he was ill, he was just too young and in my mind so healthy looking & strong! I met James Robert 26 years ago in Bakersfield Ca. He and I were a "couple" for over a year. In that time Jim introduced me into lifting wieghts and body building. His passion for the sport spilled onto me and to this day I still reap the beifits of those work outs! I had a 5 yr old son and a 6yr old daughter . I'll never forget the first time my daughter saw Jim walking towards us, she exclaimed "Mom he's so handsome!" He was sweet to my kids. Although our break up was ruff on all of us, the last time I saw Jim we both agreed it was the right thing to do. He was not ready to marry and have kids, his true passion was to own his own business! I remember during our year together dumpster diving behind a Dollar store, trying to find out where they purchased their merchandise. That was the first Dollar store that opened and Jim had thought of the idea months before! I was happy to hear a few years later that he did open a successful eatery, I never doubted that he would! I really believe that James Robert accomplished all that he really wanted to in this life, and is onto his next adventure in the next. God bless Jim and his family and friends who will never forget him.

Time has passed since Jim's passing, and I have been unable to figure out how to place closure on my sadness of the news. I did not know Jim long, nor did I know him well, but in the short time that I did know him, I came to really like him and look forward to our next brief encounter. I came to know him as his customer of the drive thru. He always knew that I might just be driving through for a blue or orange little barrel of juice for my 2 year old, driving away with a 52 cent tab. Each time I came through, we learned a little more about each other, and I began to have a sense of warmth and familiarity with him. When I learned of his hospitalization, and prognosis, I was deeply saddened. I have been unable to make myself drive thru again, but I hope to do so to support what I know had become such an important project to him. My condolences to Jim's family and friends. I miss him, and feel heavy hearted every time I think of him.

Shirley and family: My love and prayers are with each of you at this sad time in your lives. To all who believe and receive they pass to life triumphant. To be absent from the body is to be present with our precious Lord. We always called Jim, Joseph after his portraying Joseph in the Christmas pagent at the Rittman Church! My mother counted your folks special and your Mother would always keep her informed on all your family. Often I have quoted Mothers references to my family! You were special people. God Bless.

I can remember everyone yeling "SWAIN " at grizzly basketball games & especially before his foulshots....he would laugh, shake his head and sink em.

Jim was a part of my life for a long time. Everytime I would go to see my mom at work, Jim was alway very nice to me and we had some good laughs. He was very good with my son, Ryan and he always could make Ryan laugh. I will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with his sister and family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim`s passing. I knew Jim since our grade school days at Isham. Although we did not see each other much over the years whenever we did it was a good time remembering all the crazy times.we had in high school and college as well as catching up with current events. A bunch of memories jump into my mind as I write this. Playing basketball on the playground at Isham, the many times Jim hit me with a pitch in Little League. JIm hitting the game winning shot against Cloverleaf our Junior year. The win at Orrville our senior year . Jim running around the track before the Orrville football game. JIm being called Prince Valiant by WAKR sports announcer Jerry Healy. JIm waiting to the last possible moment to get his long thick hair cut before basketball practice started his sr. year. Going to the state basketball tournament in 73 with Jim and Steve Zimmer. I will always wish for one more time to talk and laugh with Jim about everything. My condolences to Jim`s sister and family. God Bless.

Very sorry to hear about Jim. He was a great guy to be around as he had a quick wit and was a good listener. Will never forget hearing his last name echo through the halls at school when hollered by friends. My thoughts go out to his family.

Sincerely,

Jim was a very good ballplayer, and he had a good sense of humor. I still remember some of the funny things he said at practice. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

Jim was a really good friend. We had a lot of crazy and great times growing up at "WHS". I too remember "Swain" echoing up and down the "hallways" of WHS... My parents would run into his parents a while back at Buelers grocery store. They would update me on his "Deli" store. He was one of our classmates that I was hoping to see again... I didn't know he passed away... I will miss him.
