Welcome to the Panametrics, Inc forums. Please press "Post Response" to participate in the discussion.

After many requests, we have decided to create a place to reconnect with Panametrics employees. Please share your story with us!

Where are you and what are you doing now?

If you know Pana employees that are not listed in the Classmates Profile area, please send me their contact information (name, E-mail address) so we can invite them to join us!

The site looks great!

Kim and I visited the the Watch Factory in August 2007. The door was unlocked so we let ourselves in. The "Pana" parts of the building were nearly completely gutted. The only way you could tell where you were was by looking at the carpeted areas and floor tiles for indication of offices and hallways that no longer exist. The shipping area was filled with acres and acres of window ACs.

Kim and I climbed all the way up to the open-air tower above the big clock (you might be able to see this spot in some of the photos on this site). The last time we snuck up there (sometime 1991) was before we were married! I hadn't been up there since then because it was locked off by building management shortly thereafter. If you could get passed the smell of stale pigeon do-do you could climb the stairs directly behing the big clock to a hatch that gave access to the little open space above the clock. You could get quite a "Pana"-ramic view of most of Waltham, unless you were prone to vertigo, in which case you probably wouldn't want to open your eyes!

We also went down to the front office area, which was still somewhat "ungutted." One empty office in the old accounting area had a piece of paper pinned to a wall. It was a list of six or seven "Pana" people from that department, their birth dates and what kind of cake they preferred on their birthday. Kim and I decided to leave it for posterity.

We also went to the area where Kim's office was located back on Nov. 30 of 1990. It was at that location and date that I first asked Kim for her phone number. The rest is history.

Needless to say, that old building has special meaning to Kim and I. Wish we'd had a camera with us. It's probably that last time we will be able to access those parts of the building.

Were is a response from Carl Aiello? He usually has a lot to say! Carl I miss your emails!

Tracey thanks for getting this site up and running! You did a great job as usual!

Chris and I finally got married in 2006 and live in NH. Life is good!

I left GE 2 years ago and am working for a company called Airmar Technology Corporation. Airmar manufactures ultrasonic transducers for the marine industry, as well as sensors for the industrial industry, though this is a small part of the business. I'm enjoying my new company, though I miss the days of Panametrics and everyone that worked there!

I cannot wait to have a reunion!!!

I have to apologize, I can't hardly think of much to say. I have thought and thought now for a couple of days since seeing Miss Russells (or Doyle-Russells) posting and am coming up empty. It's not that I don't want to speak to you all it is more like all of my thoughts and memories are coming out so fast that I just can't keep up with my typing. You were all such a huge part of my life it is just so hard to put anything down in a short post. From the day I started to the day I was abruptly terminated by that litte leprecon, I loved my job and the PANAMETRICS people I worked with. For years and years I bled Panametrics RED. I wore the "P" in the icon with pride and a sense of glory. The other day I looked into renting space in the old building just to be close to the ghosts of some of the most terrific people on earth in their day....Gotta go it is time for my meds.

Hello everyone,
It's really nice to hear from all the Pananmetrics people again. It's been a long time. I have kept contact with several people, but it's always nice to hear from everyone else. Thank you to Tracey for setting this site up, and I hope we do have a reunion.

I really miss everyone. I was sent to Olympus NDT and was laid off with a large group when the recession hit. It was not the same as Panametrics. There were too many new people who didn't know the product. Saw a lot.

Waiting to here news of the reunion. Great work Tracy!

God I miss working for Tony DiCarlo!  Remember when work was fun and you trusted the people you worked with?  Thanks for a great culture Tom Nicholson!

I am trying to network. I need a job in the Waltham area. After thirteen and a half years of helping to make Panametrics #1 and succeeding, I was awarded with a lay off for earning too much.

To Joan Chalikis:

I hope things have turned around for you. I am sorry about your bitter-sweet experience.

Among a few down side things about Panametrics, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" I hope

you can be grateful for the good times while they lasted. I am...

Victor Fong

Gene Berkowitz (Berkowitz) (1900)

Hi,

I wanted to let everyone know that Sid Schneider passed away on Sunday, Jan 20, 2013, after a brief illness.

Sid had been living with Parkinson's Disease. He and Jean had just arrived in Florida to spend the winter months when he became ill.

Jean told me there will likely be a memorial for Sid this summer in Maine.

Best regards to all,

--Gene Berkowitz

Hi Victor, Donna was an employee and appeared on several employee phone lists - that is how I have gotten all the employee names for the site. - Tracey

I expected tha anyone entitled "Director of Manufacturing" to have been more visible with a more elevated

profile. My apologies to anyone who might have been slighted. BTW I appreciate the creativity and dilligence

shown by Tracy in administrating this website over the years.

Sincerely,

Victor Fong

Just want to say "hey" to anyone wandering by. I retain such good memories working in the Field Service and Flow Lab group with all the great people during the years it was the "private" Panametrics, not such great memories of the GE takeover and move to Billerica. Anyhow, I worked another couple places and then decided to quit the "ratrace" and retired in 2012, and in 2015 moved from Nashua to our new energy efficient house in the woods of Groton, NH.............and found my version of heaven !

I hope everyone I know is doing well in these troubled times that prove the old adage "life's a bitch". I personally have seen and been through a lot since first breath in 1950, but the crap going on now is really something else entirely, very Orwellian. Hang in there and above all,.....BE HAPPY !!!
