John died unexpectantly on July 15, 2012 while at home recuperating from having vascular surgery.  John was a "wizard" at knowing sports trivia and statistics and was a strong supporter of Watervliet High School athletics.  He was an important committee member of the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame and will be missed by many.
