MISSING CLASSMATES

Wayne High School
Class Of 1989

Welcome to the Wayne High Class of 1989 web site.

We had a great reunion! To those of you that came, thanks for making the effort. And for those of you that weren't able to join us, we hope you can make it next time.

We had lots of activity during the weekend. Members of our class represented well in the golf scramble on Friday afternoon with a second place finish. Amy and a strong crew gathered Friday late afternoon to build and organize a pretty impressive float for the Chicken Show parade on Saturday. We gathered informally Friday night with about 20 of our classmates at the 4th Jug Bar and Grill and, for the most part, everyone was recognizable! That's definitely a victory for middle-aged people. We had a good showing on the float on Saturday morning and learned that we are no longer allowed to throw candy from the float. Imagine that. We then gathered at the newly-renovated upstairs of the Wayne Country Club on Saturday evening with 32 of our classmates. That's almost 40% of our class, which is pretty impressive for a bunch of busy, middle-age, hardworking, sandwich generation folks.

At the reunion, we had people from all over the country, and the world, including Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Colorado, South Dakota, South Carolina, Ohio, Japan and the Netherlands, to name a few. We laughed a lot. We shared great memories. We reminisced and wondered about those that weren't able to join us. We remembered Jed and Shane. It was a lot of fun to be together, and it was a great reminder about how, in the right circumstances, we can find community in the most unusual places, as long as we know where to look. It was 1 AM before the last people left, which is much later than most of us ever stay up any more. It was great to be together. Good job class of 89!

Special thanks to Jill and Robin for helping to organize so much of the event. Thanks also to Amy for organizing the float and some class pictures and to Margo for making sure that we got a lot of great photos at the events. We'll make sure to post some of these pics on our class web site and on Facebook. If you see any of these folks, buy them a beer or a cup of coffee, or give them a fist bump. They made it all happen!

We talked with a few folks about our next reunion. Keeping it on the 10 years seemed to be a common refrain, but we can keep thinking about that as time marches on. Until then, thanks for attending, reading, and staying connected.
