Waynesville, David Noland Cabe, age 49 of Waynesville passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at his residence.

A native of Newport News, Virginia, David resided in Haywood County for most of his life. He was the son of John David Cabe of Black Mountain and Carolyn Sue Lindsey Wyatt and her husband Glen of Waynesville. David worked as a manager for Bellsouth for 17 years, retiring in 2007. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a member of the Waynesville American Legion Post 47. David was an active member of Hazelwood Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed eating good food prepared by his mom. David was known for his compassionate heart, always seeing the good in everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family whom he loved dearly, especially his children and his granddaughter.

In addition to his father and mother, he is survived by one son Andrew Cabe, of Clyde; two daughters, Simone Cabe and her fiancé Paul Mongelli of Clyde and Sara Cabe of Raleigh, NC; one sister Johnna Batson and her husband Scott of Greenwood, SC; one brother Mark Cabe and his wife, Kim of Waynesville; a granddaughter, Isabella Mongelli; nieces, Allison Cabe and Scarlett Sheppard and nephew, Christian Sheppard.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Greenhill Cemetery with Reverend Tim Lolley and Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47.
