30 yr Reunion Poem

Class of 1979

A reunion was held the 12th, 13th of June,

by the class of '79.

We met by the pool of the Biltmore Hotel,

and had finger foods, various kind.

Later that evening we went to a club,

where a man named Doc sang the blues.

We laughed, and we talked, stayed up way too late,

lots of catching up we had to do.

Took 2 cabs to go eat, one of which was so slow,

that the first group had already eaten.

But we waited and visited and chatted some more,

about Troy saving Delmar from a beattin.

We hit the floor running on Saturday morn.,

had so much to do we were silly.

Decorated, set up guitars, karaoke machine,

had our luncheon, we catered to many.

Free time was given that afternoon,

and we split up in 4 different groups.

Some went to Mathis Bros., the Memorial, the Casino,

and some of us went to the Zoo.

I went with the group that went gambling that day,

and left not a penny there.

Jim, Andra, and Phyllis, carried it back,

and I must say they did it with care.

Troy, Glenda, and I were glad that they did,

better it wasn't with strangers!

We rode back with laughter, good times, and song,

got prepared for our evening exchanger.

It started at 6, our own David Engle played,

music that was from our era.

Then dinner at 7, our food was quite good,

and our classmates were finally together.

The Karaoke machine was the star of the night,

I never once sang by myself.

For the shyest of shy got up with me that night,

with their voices, they gave me their help.

In one form or another I even got help ,

from the shy ones, who NEVER sing.

For some us became stars that night by becoming Kristi's Supremes!

Door prizes given, Danny Secrest came farthest,

more given throughout the night.

Diane, married the most, Delmar, with most grandchildren,

and Lisa, longest with her spouse tight.

For the rest we drew numbers cause Waynoka came through,

you donated prizes to play.

And for that we say "Thank You", a shared night with you,

wouldn't wanted it any other way.

Not ready to end the night, we kept on going,

to a club they had way down the hall.

We drank and we danced, played pool, and some darts,

until finally they called last call.

Then we went to my room and kicked off our shoes,

we headed into an all nighter.

We showed pictures we'd taken on Delmars computer,

and in our group, couldn't feel tighter!

The group started dropping around 3 a.m.,

and, one at a time they parted.

Not wanting our special day to ever end,

we vowed to get something else started.

When at last our doors closed, surely musta been 4,

a quiet knock came on our door.

Seems Troy left his key with Donnie, and he,

was good and asleep on the floor!

But I was no help, I had drawn me a bath,

and lay quietly sleeping inside it!!

While the water drained quielty and slowly out,

and I woke, later, several hours dryer!!

Barely got in my bed, when what did I hear ,

but a maid vacuum sweeping too soon!!

So I got in the shower and got myself dressed,

and entered the adjoining room.

Where Andra and Glenda lay quietly talking,

about the end of our meeting.

We made plans for a breakfast, something to eat,

and met our class with a nice greeting.

And slowly we ate, not wanting to leave,

but alas we must start our  good byeing.

So we kissed and we hugged and said our so longs,

till we meet again, let's do it Friday!!
