Wendy Lee Klenotiz died in her home in Knightdale January 23, 1996. She was an avid basketball player and loved being with friends. She attended Pembroke University upon graduation from High School. Her favorite Disney character was Winnie the Pooh. She loved him so much that she had him tattooed prior to her death. Her favorite song was "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler......I think no matter what her height she always thought she was in someone else's shadow. I can honestly say I am proud to say she was my best friend and HERO for so long and that I am a better person for what she taught me and the things she got me through. There is not a day that goes by I do not think of her and her Mother Cheryl. It brings me peace to know part of her lives on today through someone else because she was generous enough to donate her organs. I also try to better take care of my diabetes because Wendy was a prime example of how difficult and unforgiving a disease it is. She would want me to be able to take care of my children and not have to live the way she did on an insulin pump daily. Wendy was an inspiration to me and many others and is greatly missed everyday!! I will always love her!
