Jack served in the United States Coast Guard for 4 years from 1971 through 1975. During that time he was stationed in Cape May, NJ (basic training); Govenors Island, NY; Yorktown, VA; Johnston Island (located in the South Pacific - 800 miles from Hawaii); and Eatons Neck, NY. It was during June 1976 when Jack suddenly slipped into a coma. The diagnosis was viral encephalitis. The coma lasted for about 6 weeks. He passed away on August 4, 1976 at the age of 23.

Jack is survived by his sister Maryanne (SJB Class of 1980)
