I knew Alan for a long time. When I started going to Webster School mid-year in Kindergarten, Alan would walk to school with me. As a new kid to the school, I was always glad to see him waiting for me at his house on Stewart Avenue and we would continue the walk together. One of our parents would walk with us too, of course, but I felt better going into the classroom with him leading the way. Webster School has been gone for years and the place where it was located is now the apartment building where my parents live.
