Mary and her brother Randy played a roll in how I met my husband, Mike.  Mary, Lydia Lee and I hung around together in HS and had great times together. I had only met Mike a few times at Mary's house - playing cards and games, so Mike and I got to know each other through my friendship with Mary.  I recall always watching the HS Hockey tournaments at the Shriders.

I got together with Mary again on a Spring Break road trip to Texas to visit her at Texas Woman's University.  We wrote letters and kept in touch over the years.

Years later, raising kids in the 70's back in White Bear, Mike and I helped babysit for Mary's son Charlie when he was a baby. I was shocked and very saddened to hear of her passing in 1982 (we were living in OR at that time.)

Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Mary, Wynnie Latchaw and I were good friends during high school. I was so envious of Mary's being able to function on just a few hours of sleep every night. She got to stay up to watch Johnny Carson when I was long gone to bed. To celebrate her getting her driver's license, we went shopping downtown St. Paul. She was maneuvering the spiral of a parking ramp and scraped the entire passenger side of the car. Her brother Randy was so angry and stereotyped her as being a typical female driver. She didn't show any guilt or remorse. I don't ever remember her getting upset or angry. When we went to the Shrine Circus, she bought a balloon and asked me to tie it around her wrist. I did a horrible job, as it immediately flew away. She just laughed about it. I'm sorry that we didn't stay in better contact after high school.
