Jan and I had lockers by each other. She was such a nice gal. I didn't really know her outside of school, though. But, crazy as life is, we were brought together maybe five years ago, when she lived in the same apartment building where my friend's mom lived. Jan would give rides to my friend's mom to the local American Legion every week so they could share in a drink or two and a burger. She was not good health-wise getting around in a motorized wheelchair. I learned of her passing from my friend's mom.
