In Memory

LaToss 71 -Bunselmeyer (Carpenter)

LaToss Carpenter, our beloved teacher, coach, sister, daughter, mother and grandmother, ascended to her final resting place at 2:36 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008. Throughout her life, LaToss exemplified the values that should be cherished above all others. She loved, she laughed, she cheered, she cried, but most of all ... she cared. Known and loved by all, she was simply Ms. Carpenter. All her life she has bled maroon and white, loving Whitehouse and its people.

Always a recognizable figure driving her bus, teaching school, coaching UIL Academics, cheering at basketball games or on the softball field, she strived to make a difference. Constantly encouraging, forever teaching she will continue to live on in all of our hearts as we each strive to make that same difference she made every day of her life.

While she is survived by her mother, Doris Bunselmeyer of Lindale; her brother, Larry Jones Sr. and Sharon Jones of Hitchcock; her son, Brandon Carpenter and Alicia Carpenter of Flint; and her grandchildren, Nikolas and Klair Carpenter of Flint; aunts, uncles and cousins, her indomitable spirit will forever live on in the souls of the daughters that she coached as "Silver Bullets" and the sons she cheered for on the basketball court.

Services for LaToss Carpenter were Monday, June 9, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Whitehouse, with Rev. Ray Davis officiating. Burial followed at Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler: Pallbearers were Walter Dawkins, Christopher Ervin, Gary Ford, Cary Nix, Craig Tidwell and Layne Tidwell, Honorary pallbearers were Travis Bernholtz, Larry Jones, Jr., Paul Jones, C.L. Nix and all of the past and current Whitehouse Basketball Players.

To be remembered for the positive impact you have made on the world is better than riches.

I was honored to be a pall bearer at her funeral. She loved WHS as much as anyone.

RIP LaToss

I remember LaToss being kind to me in high school when she didn't have to be. I have never forgotten it, and I am sorry she is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
