Geneva Wood VIEW PROFILE

Services for Florence Geneva Wood, 91, Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse with the Rev. Ray Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mrs. Wood was called home by her Maker, Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012. She was born May 14, 1921, in Athens to the late Samuel and Eileen Ireland Moon.

She married C.Y. Wood Jr. on June 29, 1940, and moved to Brownsboro where they began to raise a family. They moved to Whitehouse in 1962 where she began a 20-year career working as secretary for the Whitehouse Independent School District. She retired in 1985, at which time she and C.Y. enjoyed many years of the one thing they both loved so much, RVing all over the United States. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Whitehouse, and an avid worker in Sunday school.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.Y. Wood Jr., in 2004.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Don and Jeanne Wood, Whitehouse, David and Pam Wood, Burleson, and Dale and Gena Wood, Hazel Green, Ala.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Everyone who was fortunate enough to have known Geneva was blessed by her friendship. She always offered an eager helping hand. She always looked to the Lord for the answer. She will be missed!


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.
