Rick 74 -Palmertree

Funeral services for Richard Glen "Rick" or "Tree" Palmertree, age 55, of Montgomery will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor William (B.B.) Denman officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.

Rick was born on June 18, 1955 in Lexington, Mississippi. Although he had suffered from several health problems for the past nine years, he left us unexpectedly at 9:30 on the night of July 2, 2010 at his home in Montgomery, Texas. His mother and brother were with him at the time. He suffered from Lupus and his heart failed.

He was the oldest son of Janie Faye McNeer Palmertree of Anderson, Texas and the late Percy C. Palmertree, Jr. He was preceded in death by a special brother-in-law, Pat Arrington of Anderson, Texas; by his father; his maternal grandparents, Clara Grantham Pace and Glen M. McNeer; and his paternal grandparents, Fannie L. Brown and Percy Palmertree, Sr. Rick leaves behind to mourn him, his precious pride and joy, daughter, Summer Lauren Palmertree; his loving mother of Conroe, Texas; brother, Mitch of Conroe; two sisters, Brenda Arrington of Conroe and Amanda Palmertree Frazier (Rocky) of Weatherford; niece, Stephanie Evans (John J) Butkus of Centerville, Ohio; his nephew, Triston Clay Frazier of Weatherford; great niece, Chloe Butkus; great nephews, John S. and Brooks Butkus of Centerville, Ohio; special stepson, Tony Coco of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Sheryl (Ed) Soccie of Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are half brother, Larry (Adele) Palmertree of Texas; half sisters, Diane Van Alstyne of Michigan and Cathy Clouse of Indiana; aunt, Rose (Jack) LaBouve of Tupelo, Mississippi; and uncle, Billy G. (Barbara) Palmertree of Brandon, Mississippi.

As a single parent, he took great pride in raising and caring for his daughter, Summer. She was the light of his life, graduating from Montgomery High School last year and finishing her first year of college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas this year. He loved fishing, catching an 8 pound 5 ounce bass in the lake where he lived. His motorcycle, a 1979 black Harley-Davison, which he kept looking and running like new, was his other enjoyment in life. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for over 20 years before being forced to take medical disability retirement about 1991 due to his health problems. The customers he served as a Conroe City Carrier were always special to him. God bless each of you for being so good to him.
