I met Russell when we were 5 years old. Hanks Street was the happenin' place back in the day - Shirey's, Nix's, Martin's, & Cain's all lived as next door neighbors and grew up together. Russell was always a sweet and lovable guy. We started first grade together - he was my childhood friend, my friend as an adult and the best man at my wedding. We miss him today and always. Love you Russ.
I had the biggest crush on Russell in the 8th grade. He was my first real boyfriend and remained a friend throughout high school. The Martins are one of the nicest families I have ever known. Russell you are missed. Love, Laura
I didn't realize that we had lost Russell at such an early age. I went all twelve years with him and I remember him as being even more quiet than I was. He was always polite. Ginger Kirkpatrick Martin
Even though I knew Russell in school, we did not become really great friends until about a year before his death. His family is one of the nicest families I have known, and I am regretful for not staying in contact with them over the years. My heart broke the morning his mother called me and gave the tragic news. Russell, you were a great friend, and I will hold our friendship close to me forever. Miss you my friend.
