Jerry Alexander was my favorite guy our Senior year in high school.  He was always kind, considerate, and respectful of not only me, but all his friends.  He could sing, play the guitar, play football, ride horses, drive a convertible, became a doctor, contributed to the WF community, and all around super fun to be with!  I adored him.  Many years after we went separate way, in 1999, Tommy and I got a 5:30 am phone call--one of those that makes your heart stop beating.  It was Jerry!  Calling from the ER at General Hospital to tell me my Dad almost died.  He was on duty that night, and my Dad had congestive heart failure--Jerry saved his life.  Small world. Thank you, Jerry, for being a great guy--I was blessed to have cross paths with you.

Jerry went to Crockett so I knew him from first grade on.  He was always a nice guy, and his mom was a really sweet lady. He was the doctor my mother and father chose when theirs retired, and they were so pleased. They had total confidence in him, and so did my sisters who often went to appointments with them.  So glad he stayed in WF to practice.  He was great to my parents.

I first met Jerry when I transferred from Sam Houston to Crockett in the forth grade. I met a bunch of guys and gals that year who are still great friends today. And for the longest time I thought Jerry's real name was Webby. Alot of his friends and family called him that, and he really disliked it in later years.

After my longtime MD retired and moved from WF, I chose Jerry as my doc. I remember one day in his office he was removing a growth from the back of my hand. He started giggling then broke out in a deep laugh, I asked him what he was finding on my hand that was so funny. He looked over at me and asked if I had ever thought that I would be allowing a defensive lineman to cut on me with a sharp knife. I said no, but that same defensive lineman saved my life in the ER several years ago. When he was discharging me he again found reason to laugh, and we had a good one. He could always find humor where others could find none.

Jerry and I were close growing up, and several of the group that we hung with considered ourselves related by friendship and called ourselves cousins. We played alot of sandlot football in Morningside park, a little more organized at Zundy and the Old High. Which just bonded us closer. Jerry's brother Ted always said that if you cut Jerry he would bleed Red and Black, and I truly believe that to be true. He seldom if ever missed a Coyote football game.

Jerry was dedicated to his family and faith, medicine, and the Coyotes. You will always be missed.

I will always remember the times Jerry,Larry King and I along with a group of other guys met as part of the Navigators Organization  to read and study the scriptures early in the morning at Lubys.I particularly remember when we went through the entire book of Galations verse by single verse and discussed its relevance and meaning .. Needless to say we did not accomplish this in one meeting. It Was a real eye opener and something i will always remember . Jerry took the lead one week snd then we all took turns thereafter .. We made A lot of friends that we still see occassionally to this very day .
