Miss Hildinger Ends Career (West Word, May 28, 1965)

This year marks the end of a distinguished teaching career.  Miss Pauline Hildinger is about to retire after imparting knowledge into the minds of students for forty years.  Since the beginning of West High School, she has served as coordinator of the social studies department, and has helped to build West into the fine school it is today.

To most West High seniors, Miss Hildinger’s government class is one of the challenges of their high school years. No one can forget her warm personality and smiling face. The sincerity she shows to her students builds a deep respect for her among them.

Miss Hildinger’s students learn in the first week of their government class that she is aware of faults and corruption in our government, but that she also has great faith is our American republic and the ability of the American people to make an even greater and better nation.  When there seems to be a tendency today to criticize government, it is refreshing to hear Miss Hildinger express her unquestionable pride in the government we have created.

Miss Hildinger’s patriotism builds a sense of responsibility in students to provide the nation with the best government possible.  She has stated that she hopes at least one student from each of her classes decides on a career in government. She hopes that her class provides this desire. It has. Many of her former students are now serving in public administration.

Miss Hildinger has helped make our nation a better one. We wish her a happy retirement.
