Dr. Marjorie E. (Stoney) Stone, 89, formerly of Emporia, Ks, died on April 1, 2015, in Wichita, Ks. Marjorie was born on August 8, 1925, to Ralph Harrison Stone and Harriet I. Stone. Marge attended Wichita High School North, graduating in May 1943 and Friends University from 1943-1945. Marge earned her B.A. Degree from the University of Wichita in 1947 and her Master of Education Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She earned her Advanced Certificate of Study/Specialist degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, and Doctorate of Education from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Marge taught physical education in junior high schools in Augusta and Pratt, high school at Wichita West High School in Wichita, was instructor of Physical Education at the University of Missouri at Columbia and retired professor of Physical Education from Kansas State Teacher's College/ Emporia State University where her main emphasis was teacher preparation. Her coaching career included college level women's softball, basketball and gymnastics. She played competitively on state/regional softball and basketball teams, and was active professionally in the Kansas division of Girls and Women's Sports. She coordinated various summer girls' sports clinics. During her career she served her profession on the local, state and national levels. Honor organizations included Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Lambda Theta, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Who's Who in American Women.
