L. May Torkleson, 79, died Tuesday, March 24, 1981 at a Topeka convalescent home. She was born July 23, 1901, at Everest, the daughter of John and Nancy Crisamore Torkleson. She was graduated from Maize High School and later from Friends University, Wichita, with a bachelor of arts degree in 1925. She received a master’s degree from George Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn., in 1952. She lived in Topeka for several years after she retired. Miss Torkleson was a librarian at several Kansas schools including 16 years at Wichita West High School where she retired in 1966. (Topeka Capital Journal, March 25, 1981)
