Virginia Nelson (Teacher)

Virginia Nelson, Mar. 19, 1922 - Oct. 7, 2014, resident of Newark. Virginia passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Newton, KN and graduated with a BA from Kansas University. She was a WAC during WWII in signal corps. She was a LA county social worker, and Director for Social Services for Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KN. Later she obtained her Masters in special education from Emporia State Teachers College. She retired after many years teaching students with learning disabilities at Pala Middle School, San Jose. In retirement, she was an avid quilter and quilted with Centerville Presbyterian Overacker Club.

Mrs. Virginia Nelson attended the University of Southern California and earned her master’s degree at KSTC. She earned her B.A. at Kansas University. She teaches special education. Her hobbies are making marble table tops and hatmaking.
