Jennifer Louise Thurman

Jennifer Louise Thurman Roland passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on August 5th, 1949 in Amarillo, TX to James Sydney Moore and Margaret Nancy Bocock. Jennifer was later raised by her beloved “bonus” father Jack Franklin Thurman.

After graduating from West High in Wichita, KS, she began her career as a legal secretary and was well respected and known for her quality work.

On April 24th, 1976, she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Roland. Included in the union, were Robert’s children, Rosalind and Carla, whom she loved as her own. In October of 1977, the family welcomed daughter Caroline.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She was one of the first volunteers to help with The Bridge—Children’s Advocacy Center. Jennifer also was a trained hospice volunteer. Her beautiful needlework and knitting were legendary and she took great joy in making these works of art and even more joy in gifting them. Her gifts helped welcome countless babies, celebrate new marriages, comfort several cancer patients, and overall offer love and hope to any who struggled.
