Carol Chambers (Teacher)

Carol Jean Chambers, formerly McFadden, passed away on Saturday, the 24th of May, after a valiant seven-month battle against Leukemia. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Ron Keesling and her son, Nicholas Chambers-Keesling. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Chambers and her mother, Mary Baer Chambers of Wichita, Kansas. Carol was raised in Wichita, graduating from Wichita University with a degree in English Literature. She taught English at Mercer Island Senior High School during the 1970's and early 1980's. While widely read in several areas, she was particularly know for her expertise in Russian literature. She was also an avid traveler who turned her love of Asia into a successful import business, Dragon Traders, located across the street from the Seattle Design Center. Her collection of Chinese furniture and porcelain was among the best in the city. In addition, she and her husband, Ron, owned Chambers-Keesling and Associates, which successfully developed many properties in the Capitol Hill, Eastlake and Madison Park areas. Aside from her accomplishments, Carol will most be remembered for her incredible generosity not only in kind but in spirit. In addition, her interest in design and love of beauty is apparent in everything she did and everything she leaves behind. All of us who were privileged to know her will forever hold her in our hearts. Her imprint on all our lives will live on.
