Brenda Hawley Miles

Brenda’s untimely passing leaves so many devastated, heartbroken, and sad.  I’ve known Brenda since 1963.  Her Dad -- even before then.  Mr. Hawley sold my family every pair of shoes we bought, including my first pair of Weejuns and Topsiders.  He was a good man --earnest, good-natured, and proud.  Brenda got and enriched those wonderful characteristics from “Red” Hawley and she carried them with her throughout her life.

In high school and indeed for her entire life, Brenda was unique.  She was genuine, sincere, not given to pretense.  She always seemed confident and self-assured, even though like all of us, there were tough times when I’m sure she wasn’t.  Brenda was beautiful.  I saw her several months ago and she looked like the same girl I remembered in her cheer leading uniform (except, of course, for her “trademark” hair which turned gray long before she did).  She had such a quick and beautiful smile and that dimple was infectious.

Mostly, Brenda was always such a proud person.  Proud of her parents and brothers, proud though not boastful of her accomplishments, her successful career, and her many friends; but most of all, she was proud of “her boys” and their families.  They gave her much to be proud of and were such a big part of her life.  What a wonderful legacy she leaves to them.

The grief and sadness we all feel as we mourn Brenda’s death is compounded by the fact that there are so few people left like her – sincere, good-natured, beautiful and above all – proud.

Fike High School Class of 1967 Fifty Year Reunion

Can you believe it’s been 50 years since we graduated?!?  Planning is underway and we are relying on YOU to help make this reunion special. See basic information below, with more details to come as everything is solidified. Mark your calendar now and make plans to attend. 

While some of the details have yet to be finalized, we do know when, where and the cost of our Saturday night event.  We have secured the venue with the initial deposit. Final payment is due by the end of July.  Early registrations and checks are requested so we will have enough money to make the next payment by the deadline.  We also need to start getting a somewhat accurate headcount.  Please help us out by completing the form below and mailing it with your check as soon as possible. It seems like the reunion is a long way off, but it will be here before we know it!
