David McPherson

David "Rusty" McPherson, 63, of Winfield, passed away July 23, 2016, at his home.

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials are to the Winfield Cancer Center and RiverCross Hospice.  Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.  

Born Feb. 24, 1953, in Winfield, Rusty was the son of Everett L. and Verna V. "Jenny" (Marler) McPherson. He was raised and educated in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1971. After high school, he attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, where he received a degree in welding. 

Rusty and Sandra Reed married June 30, 1972, in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Winfield, and Rusty began working as a welder at Gordon Piatt. He remained with Gordon Piatt for over 30 years, retiring in 2002.  

He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a proud grandpa and loved his four grandchildren.  

Rusty was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Reed, his mother-in-law, Betty Reed, and his sister-in-law, Carrie Reed.

He is survived by his wife Sandra McPherson; daughter Kimberly Randall and husband Todd; sons Jeff McPherson and Justin McPherson and wife Laura; parents Everett and Jenny McPherson; brother Ken McPherson; grandchildren Kylie and Emily Randall and Barrett and Abram McPherson, all of Winfield; and his nephew: Greg McPherson and wife Jenny, Arkansas City.
