Bloomington -- Whitney L. Brown, 60, of 903 W. Market St., Bloomington, died at 6:02 p.m. at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Bloomington, the Rev. Frank McSwain officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington.

Memorials may be made to the Henry L. Brown Life Center of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Whitney was born Aug. 31, 1943 in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Henry L. and Gertrude Butcher Brown. He married Shirley Archibald on Dec. 18, 1971. She survives.

Whitney also is survived by his mother, Gertrude Brown; three sisters, Carolyn N. (Allen) Ware and Donise L. Brown, both of Bloomington; and Arlene L. ( Bernard) Stevens, Chicago Heights; a brother Pastor John L. (Beulah) Brown, Bloomington; five nephews; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Whitney graduated from Bloomington High School. He worked for Illinois State University as a building service employee. He was a licensed plumber. He had previously worked for Millers' TruValue and Henry L. Brown Plumbing.

Whitney was an Army veteran.

He was an avid sports fan. he enjoyed reading newspapers. He loved history and most of all, he loved his family
