I have just over 19 years in the Navy and have been stationed at 2 homeports... Norfolk, Virginia and Groton, Connecticut. I have been stationed on 6 different fast attack submarines and have made 5 major deployments consisting of going around the world, visiting over 24 foreign ports (to include the North Pole).
I try to come back once or twice a year to Indiana to visit my family which still reside in the Valparaiso area. I married in 1991, had my son in 1995 and separated/divorced in 1996. I found my new love in 1997 and married in 2001. We have no children, but plenty of pets (two dogs, fish/koi pond, and a horse). I am looking forward to retiring this fall (2009) and returning to the Indiana area. |

I am presently in the U.S. Navy, Submarine Service. I have served 19+ years and will retire this fall (2009).

If you're married, or in a serious relationship- how long have you been together? How did you meet? |
|
My wife, Laura, and I have been together since 1997 and married in 2001. I met her while stationed in Connecticut in of all places....a grocery store.

What's the craziest job you've ever had? |
|
Most people think my normal day-to-day job in the U.S. Navy is "crazy". I am in the Submarine Service and spend 95% of underway time under water. I joke about people in prison having a better life (fresh air, sunshine, cable TV, fresh milk and vegetables, exercise facility and library). Though I lack many of the amenities that most people have while I am underway, I have had the luxury of traveling around the world and have visited 24 different countries. I have even been to the North Pole.

We know how old you are- but how old do you FEEL? |

I have always tried to enjoy life. Some people may say I am immature at times, but I like to laugh and act/stay as young as possible. I recently asked my son if any of his friends parents are like me and his response was...."No....most of them are old". So, I take this to be a good comment!

Favorite memory of BGHS..... |
|
I don't have a favorite memory....I do however have many thoughts/memories of our class. I think about the school dances, hanging out between classes and after school. I remember everyone being together as a class. Sure there were "clicks", but I think we were lucky having a small class...this allowed us to know one another better.

yes...pools, ponds and oceans.

yes, two of the submarines I have been stationed on have had television specials filmed on them.

Steal is such a derogatory word...I prefer appropriate. That said, yes...

What do you absolutely love? |
|
My son, my wife, and retiring at age 39.

What do you do to relax? |
|
I enjoy riding my motorcycle, working on wood projects or drawing.....but mostly, sitting in my easy chair next to my koi pond watching the fish is the most relaxing for me.

How do you see yourself in 10 years? |
|
I see myself living back in Indiana...hopefully not a grandfather (yet). I plan on building a barn, raising horses and continuing with my wood working projects.
