For more than 40 years San Diego resident Ronald G. Spann worked in the trucking business--owning his own business in San Marcos for several years.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2007, Mr. Spann lost his battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

Born June 28, 1941 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Mr. Spann moved to Claremont with his family in 1953. He graduated from Claremont High School where he was a member of the football and track teams.

From 1960 through 1964, Mr. Spann served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany and France for his tour of duty. Later, Mr. Spann made the trucking industry his career.

He is survived by his 5 daughters: Suzanne Couch of Yucaipa; Jennifer Spann of Ontario; Monika Spann of Bloomington; Susana Fields of California City; Alexandra Spann and son Jesus Renteria of San Diego, and his mother Minnie F. Spann of Shasta Lake. He is also survived by his 5 sisters: LaWanda Williams of La Verne; Jackie Berry of Vancouver, WA; Patsy Paul of Sun City, AZ; Ann Hammond of Shasta Lake and Betty Kriezel of La Verne. Mr. Spann is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
