Thursday, November 12, 2009
Greetings to all the Grand Reunion Committee:
The Haytt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan seems to have been the perfect back drop for our showcase for some beautiful people who emerged from Osborn High School in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979.
The weekend of November 6-8, 2009 will forever be etched in my memory and I have all of you to thank for what I am feeling on this Wednesday morning. We as a team were able to do what many thought was almost impossible to do, that is; to have a joint Reunion with several classes being represented. Well, we did it and I hope you are as proud of what became a history making weekend for our Alumni.
I was pleased on how we were able to execute our plan with little to no problems. Everyone seemed to have hit their marks as they were discussed during our meetings. I believe, because we were commitment to do it right, we were able to succeed in making our guest feel right at home. I cannot thank you enough for all of your support and dedication for a wonderful weekend. For me, we met and exceeded all expectations. I have just begun to read my emails and the comments on what many say was a “Grand Weekend.”
In closing, I would like to say this will be remembered in my mind for years to come and I will cherish November 6-8, 2009 forever. I will be in touch with all of you with a date and a time for our rap up meeting in the very near future. Again, I cannot say thank you enough and it comes from the bottom of my heart and I wish you all nothing but the BEST!
Sincerely,
Milton Howze ‘77

-------------------------------------------------
On behalf of the Grand Reunion Planning Committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all that supported and participated in this memorable event. We truly had a wonderful and unforgettable time. There was a lot of reconnecting with old classmates and making acquaintance with new classmates we never knew back in High School. It was so nice to have Mr. Badger's among us to share in this occassion. The words he shared were very encouraging and uplifting. To sum up the weekend it was simply GRAND!
Finally we wish to personally thank everyone involved for your contributions in making this a Grand Reunion. May God continue to prosper and bless you and your families with many years to come. See you at the next reunion.
Have a Blessed and Wonderful Holiday Season!!!
In the Spirit of Osborn Knights,
Milton Howze '77/Reunion Committee Chair & The Reunion Planning Committee

WORDS TO ENCOURAGE YOU:
Is so important that we don’t give up in-spite of the situation; keep on dreaming, keep on believing, keep on caring and stay committed. This race is not given to swift or the strong…but to them that can endure to the end. We have to be like that 100 yrs old oak tree. The tree may bend when the storm gets strong...in the end, THE TREE STANDS TALL.

Laura Freele Osborn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Laura A. Freele Osborn (1866 - 1955) was a suffragist, campaigner for school reform, and long-serving member of the School Board for Detroit Public Schools in Detroit, Michigan during the early half of the 20th century.
She was born and raised in Huntington, Indiana. She taught school in Huntington until her marriage in 1891 to Francis C. Osborn a businessman and inventor of Detroit.
She was first elected to the Detroit School Board in 1917, campaigning on a platform of reform. She was the first woman elected to citywide office in Detroit. She served on the School Board for 38 years, until her death in 1955. During that time she was selected as School Board president seven (7) times. Laura Osborn also played a role in developing Wayne State University in the mid 1930s. [citation needed]
She is also credited with having mobilized women in to the cause of school reform and temperance, and also to have "broken the prejudice against women officeholders in Detroit". [citation needed] She also ran unsuccessfully for City Council two times.
