Dana Shea Hodges-Denny, 37, of Taylor Springs, IL, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL.  A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Wares Grove Lutheran Church in Rural Butler, IL.  Rev. John Jaffrey, Pastor of Wares Grove Lutheran Church of Rural Butler, IL & Rev. Matt Ferguson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate.  Burial will be in Wares Grove Cemetery with Military Rites, at Graveside, by Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors.

Dana was born March 6, 1979, in Springfield, IL, to Daryl Hodges and Kim (Ebeling) Blackburn.  She was a 1997 Graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and earned an Associate’s Degree in General Studies.  She married John Denny, on October 10, 2015, in Hillsboro, IL.  Dana had served in the Army National Guard, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, from April 2003 to April 2004 as a member of the 233rd Military Police Unit out of Springfield, IL.  She traveled all over the world and had had been awarded many medals and service ribbons during her Military career.  Dana was also featured in a book “Patrolling Baghdad” for her Military Police work in Iraq. She was currently serving in the 236th ICTU Reserve Unit in Decatur, IL. She had been an Army Staff Sergeant for 17 years. She had also worked as a Mentor at the Corner Stone Academy in Nokomis, IL.

Dana is survived by her daughter, Brooklyn Rose Fisher of Taylor Springs, IL; husband, John Denny of Taylor Springs, IL; father, Daryl Hodges of Hillsboro, IL; mother & stepfather, Kim & Bob Blackburn of Fillmore, IL; sister, Cody Hodges of Hillsboro, IL; niece, Sophia Blankenship of Hillsboro, IL; step-brother, Taylor (wife Jessie) Blackburn; step-sister, Lacy (husband Dan) Kimbro; one step-niece and three step-nephews.
