Janis Clark (Pike)

My cousin Kathy and I grew up 4 blocks from each other and attended the same school and grades K-12, Brownies and Girl Scouts.  I was the shy, quiet one, Kathy was outgoing and so talented.  She was so gifted in music, an awesome teacher; she put so much into her students even sewing costumes for various performances.  Kathy was also an awesome mother & Grandmother; she guided her daughter through everything 4-H; including sewing, cooking, music and livestock.  I remember the time Kathy took a cake decorating class and always made beautiful cakes and cookies.  I have many fond childhood memories with her especially the time she took her older brothers Beatles album and brought it over for us to listen to and got it back in his room before he knew; we thought we were pretty sneaky.   After graduation  I got married, started having children, she went to college, got married and had her daughter.  I then moved to Arizona and she moved to Iowa; however we got together whenever we both made it back to Lincoln.  I was fortunate to spend some time with her last summer and she faced her illness and last few months with the same grace and dignity she lived her life.

I love her and miss her greatly'
