Ronald Gene Cunningham, 80, formerly of McPherson, KS, Ellinwood, KS, and Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was an agronomist, working at Ohio State University and Kansas State University in the Agriculture Department. He retired from the Army National Guard. Ron was born on August 5, 1942, in Winfield, KS, the son of Kedric Bogue and Virginia Nadine (Barnes) Cunningham. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1960 and continued his education at Kansas State University. He was a member of the American Legion and was also a Boy Scout leader. On September 16, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hirsch in Ellinwood. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2022. Survivors include: three sisters, Karen Base (Jonas) of McPherson, KS, Linda Gardner (William) of Ashland, OH, and Vicky Polreis (Gerald) of Nickerson, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother John Cunningham.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, KS.
