Judy Robinson (Haselmire-Wood)

Judy Robinson (Haselmire) Wood) 34, died suddenly December 14, 1976, while working in Denver.

Judith Verlee Robinson, daughter of Walter and Ruth Robinson of Peabody, KS was born June 11,1942, at Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton. She lived with her family on a farm near Peabody, and moved with her parents to McPherson for her junior and senior years of high school so Judy could be close to her organ instructor.

Judy was quite talented in music performance, and , for a time, entertained diners with her singing and organ playing at the Hangar Restaurant at the McPherson airport. As a junior at MHS she had the lead role of Laury in the school play Oklahoma!

Following high school, Judy graduated from Brown-Mackie School of Business in Salina. While in Salina she met 2nd Lt. William Haselmire, who was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base, and married him in August, 1961, at the First Methodist Church in Peabody.

Judy and Bill lived in Detroit and San Diego while he finished his military tour of duty. In 1962, Judy gave birth to a daughter Julee Michelle. In 1965, they moved to Denver and there Judy began an interior decorating business called Judel's Interiors.

In 1970 Judy married Michael Wood. Two daughters were born to this union; Elizabeth in 1971, and Kimberly in 1973.

On December 14, 1976, while consulting an interior decorating client at their home, Judy collapsed suddenly and was taken to a hospital without ever recovering. An aneurysm was suspected as the possible cause of death.

At the time of her death, Judy's survivors included her three daughters, Julee Michelle Haselmire, 14, Elizabeth Wood, 5, and Kimberly Wood, 3; her parents, Walter and Ruth Robinson; and her brothers Randolph and Richard.

Services were held December 18,1976 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary in Denver. Judy is buried at Hampden Memorial Gardens in Denver.

I attended grade school with Judy in Peabody. She was quite a charming girl. I left Peabody during the 4th grade and lost track of her until she showed up in McPherson our Junior year. She was still a charmer, always smiling. I a felt a special bond with Judy since we were both "Peabodyites". I am so sorry to hear she passed at such an early age.
