Chris and I had a number of art classes together. I remember that sometimes she would have a small smile, and then suddenly she’d burst into laughter; it’s been a happy memory of her, and one which I’ve recalled ever since. Yet she was one of the first to go, before she was 20, as I remember.

Tucked away with some old art work, I’ve still got a pencil portrait of Chris, a profile, which I drew back then, in ’58 or ‘59. It isn’t particularly great, but it’s part of my memories, both of Chris and of our years at Montclair High.
