That I almost met Jimi Hendrix through rock drummer Buddy Miles, who was an Omaha native and used to babysit me and my brother Earl when we were little in the Spencer Projects. I almost convinced Buddy to introduce me to Jimi Hendrix, but he passed away the same month I arrived in California in 1970. Buddy played with Jimi's last band, the Band of Gypsys.
