Alecia Duncan Smith

1970 ~ 2009

Our sweet little angel Alecia Devon Duncan Smith (39) peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 8, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. Alecia succumbed to cervical cancer after fighting this miserable illness for 2 1/2 years. Alecia was born on July 21, 1970 to Kerry L. and Nedra Houser Duncan in Provo Utah.

Alecia was raised in Spanish Fork Ut where she attended schools in the area and later graduated Spanish Fork High School. For employment Alecia found her love in working with and providing transportation to children (School Bus Driver). Before the illness Alecia was employed with Centro De La Famila De Utah. This is a job that she loved with all of her heart because of the children and her coworkers.

Alecia was married to Jared Smith and then later divorced. From that marriage came Alecia's greatest blessings, two beautiful and loving children, Makayla Smith age 14 and Jarren Smith age 12. Alecia received her endowments surrounded by family in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on August 15, 2009. This endowment provided great comfort to Alecia and her family.

Alecia is survived by her children Makayla and Jarren Smith (Payson Ut). Mother and Father Kerry L. and Nedra Houser Duncan (Spanish Fork Ut). Brothers Thomas W. (Bill) and Cindy Duncan (Spanish Fork Ut). Tyler L. and Korie Duncan (Spanish Fork Ut). 5 nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Cody Duncan, Houser Duncan, Alixandra (Ali) Duncan, Koby Duncan, and Shealynn Duncan.

And last of all two animal companions Nugget and Otis who was with her to the end.

Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Wolf Hollow Second Ward Chapel, 870 East Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah with a viewing Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church and Thursday, prior to services from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

A heartfelt Thank You comes from the Duncan family and is directed to those caregivers (VistaCare hospice) who worked with Alecia and provided exemplary care to her for the past couple of months. We wish to knowledge Dr. Garner, Dr. Wallentine who provided excellent medical care and especially those caregivers who provided hands-on care. Nancy, Holly, Rosemary and Kathy.
