Steve was and will remain one of our most cherished classmates and colleagues. It was a shock to learn the loss of a dear friend and fellow attorney and I know that God has a special place for Steve where he will continue to guide other angels as he. It is a painful reminder to us all that we must take more time for our friends and family as we grow older and pace ourselves. Steve was a dedicated to to the practice of law, his community and his family and leaves an amazing legacy we shall never forget. Kathleen Long, Esquire and classmate 1979.  God Bless the Burton Family.

I met Steve again after all these years at a few of the Lightning hockey games . He almost bought the team with his partners , he was so excited about it I remember him running around up the stairs like a kid , but these things are complex and it was just not to be . We talked about him being on the Airport authority and how ridiculous it was that we barely had international flights anymore and I credit him with bringing about Jet Blue , Spirit , Berlin , and Alpine Air and the other changes at the airport that continue still today . I never knew he wasnt well for a minute and I think he would have been a fine mayor eventually because he was certainly was a leader as long as I knew him back to Chamberlain .

I am thinking about his wife Susan and his children and they have my sincerest condolences .

You did your best and job well done Steve ,

Such a sad day open hearing of Steven's death.I go all the way back to 7th grade with him and he was truly a friend to all who knew him.We ran into each other at the 30 year reunion where we joked about the roof thing at Adams and that he would never tell all the details of it but he was glad that he did get pass it.Just wanted to pass my prayers on to his family and say that God needed another leader in heaven and what better choice than Steve...
