Brenda L. Hollensen-Henderson, 79, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

She was born May 17, 1944, in Tiffin, the daughter of George and Elsie (Radcliff) Strausbaugh. She married Thomas Henderson on Aug. 14, 1982. Brenda graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1962. She began her career in education, teaching fourth and sixth grades at Noble Elementary School in Tiffin. She also taught at Bowling Green State University before becoming a school teacher at Coshocton JVS, the Assistant Superintendent of Butler County JVS, Superintendent of Medina County JVS, and Executive Director of Cuyahoga Valley JVS, retiring in 1998.

After retirement, she owned and operated the Rustic Roost Gift Shop with her daughter in Marblehead. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, past President of Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and past director of Ottawa County Habitat for Humanity. She took great pride in her work as a CASA for Ottawa County Juvenile Court. She was also a member of Eastern Stars.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Thomas Henderson; daughter, Tammy (Steven Keil) Dunlap of Wayne; son, Scott (Sharon) Dunlap of Maple Heights; grandchildren, Anthony Theis, Travis (Jill) Persinger, Brady (Andrea) Persinger, Zachary (Brittany) Persinger, and Garrett Dunlap; great-grandchildren, Georgia, Colton, Camryn, and Blakelyn; siblings, Dean Strausbaugh of Tiffin and Beth (Tom) Everett of Woodville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcia Roby; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Strausbaugh.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. Brenda's memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave., Lakeside.
