Thomas R. Fox

Thomas R. Fox, 73, of Marcellus, passed away August 13 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Troy, NY, son of the late Gladys and Rodmond Fox. After graduating from Syracuse University, he taught physics at West Genesee High School for 35 years retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Camillus Baptist Church for 48 years, singing in the adult choir during all those years, serving as the financial secretary for over 30 years and teaching the adult class.

Tom had also been a member of the Liverpool Community Chorus and more recently, the Voices of Faith ecumenical chorus. Golf was another passion of his and for the last 15 years he was a member of the Sunset Ridge Golf Course. Some of his favorite pastimes include tennis, chess, traveling, bowling at Raab's in Camillus and drinking coffee with his buddies at McDonald's in Fairmount.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Phyllis Wandelt; three sons, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Fox of Warners, Brian (Christine) Fox of Chittenango and Jonathan Fox of Marcellus; three grandchildren, Jacob, Kelsey, and Christopher Fox; a sister, Ethel Anne (Richard) Post of Troy; cousins, Carolyn Fox and Marion Barnett; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Camillus Baptist Church, 23 Genesee St. A memorial service will be noon Saturday, Aug. 17 at the church. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A scholarship fund at W. Genesee High School will be established in his memory. Contributions may be made to W. Genesee CSD/Tom Fox, 300 Sanderson Drive, Camillus 13031. The Bush Funeral Home of Elbridge has charge of arrangements.
