Yetto, Samuel L. Jr. PITTSTOWN Samuel L. Yetto Jr., the self-proclaimed "Mayor of Pittstown Corners" died peacefully at his Old State Road residence with his devoted family by his side Sunday morning, September 3, 2017. Born in Troy, August 1, 1939, Sam was the son of the late Samuel L. and Ann M. (Ross) Yetto Sr. and, for over 38 years, the husband of the late Janet A. Miner, who preceded him in death in July 1998. Sam and Janet were married February 6, 1960. Sam attended Troy City Schools and was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1957. As a young man, Sam worked for several years at the former Cluett, Peabody and Company in Troy and later as a delivery driver for the Golden Krust Bakery in Troy. Most recently he had been employed as a maintenance mechanic at the Brittonkill Central School District in Brunswick. After more than 20 years of service, he retired in 2001. Sam was a member of the Pittstown United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. and a life member of the Pittstown Volunteer Fire Company. In addition, Sam enjoyed the outdoors, camping with his family, car shows, stock car racing, and driving his Chevy Corvette and Camaro. A well known face at the Cropseyville Stewarts, Sam loved time spent there with his friends and family. Sam is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael E. and Carolyn Yetto, Christopher M. and Tracy Yetto, Therese M. and James Kautz, Kimberly J. Coonrad (Michael Sousa), and Laura L. and Matthew Harris, all of Pittstown, and Wayne J. Yetto of Brunswick, Samuel L. and Sarah Yetto III of Hoosick Falls, and Ellie A. and Michael Grogan of Raymertown; a brother, John Yetto; and two sisters, Ann Trudeau and Marie Rokjer; 27 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Sam was predeceased by an infant daughter, Janine, and a brother, Renee Yetto. A memorial service for Sam will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Pittstown United Methodist Church, 57 Old Route 7, located in Pittstown (two miles east of the Tomhannock Reservoir), with Rev. Jim Knapp officiating. Burial with fire company honors in Norton Cemetery immediately after the service, followed by a reception at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. squad house.
