John J. Tarsa - age 70, of Halfmoon, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 22, 2009. Born on August 31, 1938 in Easton, N.Y., he was the son of the late Helen Tarsa. A veteran of the U.S. Army, John was employed by General Electric Silicone in Waterford for 38 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Green Island Rod and Gun Club and was an avid lake trout fisherman, hunter, wood carver, and bread maker. He also loved gardening and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Anne M. (Ryan) Tarsa; his daughters, Elizabeth A. (Gary) Hayes, Amy M. (Mark) Solan; his son, John Tarsa Jr.; grandchildren, Sarah Hanna, Mark Solan Jr., Madelynne Solan, Shannon Hayes and Shane Hayes. He is also survived by three aunts, Mary Hotaling, Jeanne Tarsa, Tessie Tarsa, and several cousins. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home Inc., 1597 Rte. 9, Clifton Park, with a service 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
