After graduating from Hudson Valley Community College, I moved to Vermont to learn to ski. After 2 winters in Vermont, I moved to Seattle, WA in 1968 and worked for a Public Relations firm for 4 years. In late 1968, I met Al Simmons and we skied our way through courtship and married in August 9f '72. We worked in Seattle during the week and spent all weekends during the year at our place at Crystal Mountain, WA. In 1978 I began working for Pacific Northwest Bell and spent the next 20 years in various management positions, mostly in contracting and finance. It was a great career and I was very fortunate.
Sometime in the early '80s Al and I took up golf and I continue to play regulary to this day. Al retired in 1990 and I was fortunate to take early retirement in 1998 at age 53. We then built another house on a golf course in Allyn, WA, across Puget Sound from Seattle. After almost 4 years, in August, 2002. I was devastated to instantly lose my beautiful husband to a massive heart attack while we were getting ready for a golf tournament at our home. The next 5 years were a blur and a time of pulling myself together again. Then in May, 2008, I married Ken Hildebrand, a widower whom I'd known for a few years. Since we both golf we decided to live here in LakeLand Village Golf and Country Club. He sold his home in Enumclaw, WA and I sold mine here at the golf course and we bought a beautiful townhome in LakeLand Village. It's different starting over again at age 62 from what it was 35+ years ago. But it's good, and we have a great life. Ken has even taken up skiing again, so my beloved Crystal Mountain is still a major part of my life.
