How often do you get to return home to McDowell County? Do you still have family living there?

Most recent visit to McDowell was in November 2018, to visit family and significant other. So much has changed in the area that I barely recognize it. A lot of sad situations for the people that currently live there. I am hopeful that it will get better.
I still have family living there.

Is this the job that you dreamed about in high school?

No

What were the high points of your life in high school?

I got to know a lot of wonderful people in high school. I have missed some of them quite a lot through-out my life. I regret that I did not keep in close contact with all of the people who meant so much to me.

So, high points of high school?
Classmates and teachers that were my friends; classes that I really enjoyed because they fed my inner passions - Art, Music, English Lit. I did enjoy other classes because of the teachers and classmates, even if I wasn't interested in the subject being taught.
Just a lot of wonderful memories because of the people that were sharing the experience with me.
Sitting on the steps at Welch High School drawing downtown Welch during an Art class.
Learning that I enjoyed writing poetry.
Writing and performing the skits for the senior class closed circuit television event...Humanities class.
Learning to play the recorder in Music class.
Being introduced to great literary works that I probably would have never known about otherwise.

If you could rewrite your "senior will," what would you bequeath or advise to your high-school self today?

I bequeath this information to all future students:
this is the time of your life that you will remember even when you are old, make it the best that it can possibly be, learn everything that you possibly can - reading, writing - if you can read then the world belongs to you, nothing can be hidden from you, you can learn everything that you could ever possibly want to know; if you can write - then you can share what you learn with others.
People - don't forget other people - they are just like you - with dreams, hopes, fears, struggles - be as kind as you can possibly be to everyone - everyone.
Advice to myself - forget practical - don't spend time on things that you don't love - it will make you very unhappy in the long run - working at things that deaden the soul for endless years. Dream, create, love, explore, don't fear - take that leap of faith. Trust that God gave you certain gifts for a reason - don't let them die from disuse or despair. If you do what you love then you will love what you do and it will never feel like work - because it will instead be dreams coming true.

What have you always wanted to do that you haven't done yet?

Write
Create beautiful art
Play musical instruments - drums, keyboards, guitar
Travel
Retire with a very good income that I can use to fulfill my other dreams.

Where is your favorite place to travel? What places do you want to go?

The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.
Every beautiful God created place in the world...and some of the human created ones, too.

Any gray hair yet?

Yes

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I don't think that there is anything surprising about me; I'm a pretty boring, ordinary individual.
I was only married for 4 years - age 26 to 30 - I have been single the rest of my life.

Did you have a nickname in school? Any nicknames now?

I don't remember any nicknames in school, but I have a few since then - Little bit, George, Mouse, Lola. No nicknames now.

If/when you skipped school, what did you do? What is your favorite memory?

Yes, I did do that a few times with my best friend.
We went to church once...drove around a few times just talking and listening to music...nothing exciting
Favorite memories were mostly at school...not skipping class.

How do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

10 years from now I hope to have achieved some of the dreams that I had when I was younger.

When was the last time you belly laughed?

A couple days ago - really funny movie.
