Robert Allwyn Alvis VIEW PROFILE

ROBERT ALLWYN ALVIS

Robert Allwyn Alvis, 43, died Wednesday in a local hospital.  Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday in South Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Paulding officiating.  Private graveside services will be held, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr. Alvis was born in Austin and graduated from Cooper High School and Hardin-Simmons and Abilene Christian Universities.  He was a self-employed counselor.  He married Sandy Nelson in 1987 in Abilene and was a member of South Side Baptist Church, where he was active in the orchestra.

Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Robert Joseph Alvis and Wesley Gray Alvis, both of Abilene; his father, Robert H. Alvis of Abilene; one brother, John H. Alvis II of Abilene; one sister Kelly Diane Boyd of Houston; and three nephews and two nieces.

Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P. O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604; American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 41, Abilene 79604; and South Side Baptist Church Organ Fund, 1425 S 7th, Abilene 79602.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., today at 1317 Compere Blvd.
