Veretta Mae Jackson

Veretta Mae Jackson was born November 27, 1942 and passed away June 9, 2002, due to complications after an automobile accident near Antonito.  Her mother Nola Jackson also died in that accident.  Veretta was 59.  After graduating, Veretta attended Adams State College for 1 1/2 years.  In 1965, she worked as a nurse's aid in Colorado Springs.  In 1967, she returned to Alamosa to work at the Evergreen Nursing Home for 17 years.  she retired in 1985 due to health problems.  Veretta loved knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, cats and taking care of her nieces and nephews.  She was very compassionate and loved doing service work.

Veretta sis survived by three brothers, Ray, Eddis, and Charlie and one sister, Diana plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Alamosa Third Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 3rd and Richardson in Alamosa.

Veretta Mae Jackson died June 9, 2002 in LaJara, due to complications after an automobile accident near Antonito. 

Veretta was born Nov. 27, 1942  in Alamosa to Eldon Jackson and Nola Mae Martin.  She attended the Alamosa School System, graduating from Alamosa High School in 1962, then attending Adams State College for one and one half years.  In 1965 she began working as a nurse's aid in Colorado Springs.  In 1967 she returned to work in Alamosa at the Evergreen Nursing Home, where she worked for 17 years.  She had to retire in 1985 due to health problems.

Veretta loved knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, cats and taking care of her many nieces and nephews.  She never tired of serving others and trying to make another's life easier.
