Isao and his sisters, Hiroko and Sumiko came to Alamosa and lived in the Carmel District around 1956. I was a 6th or 7th grader at Carmel School at the time. I remember how sorry I felt for them because they were trying to attend school and didn't know how to speak English. Hiroko and I became friends and I helped her with English. She would get frustrated and cry. Isao seemed always so sad. I am sure it was very hard for them to leave Japan and move here. There were other families that lived in Carmel and Waverly that had come from Japan as well, so that helped the transition. I lost contact with them after graduation when I moved from Carmel.
I remember Isao quiet and polite. I remember coming to his aid when he was being picked on in the hall by 2 that I wont mention their names. He looked at me and said dont wory Cart I can take care of this . He proceded to kick their butt. Prayers to his family and rest in pease Isao.
